Candida overgrowth can make it hard for you to lose weight. It can even make you gain weight. You could have candida overgrowth syndrome if you've had lots of yeast infections even if they aren't active now, You've taken many rounds of antibiotics in your life, have had toxic shock syndrome or serious staph infections. Candida overgrowth means that the bacteria and yeast in your body are out of balance. When they get back into balance, you'll find it easier to lose weight. The symptoms of candida overgrowth are quite varied and include the inability to lose weight, puffy tummy, lots of allergies and sensitivities to foods or environment, aches and pains, migraines, and digestive disorders. Research shows that candida syndrome can lead to autoimmune disorders, such as chronic fatigue, arthritis, and fibromyalgia. Candida syndrome can depress hormonal functioning and create abnormal mood swings. If you suspect that you could have this syndrome, check with your health care practitioner. Many naturopaths are quite familiar with this and can make recommendations for you. My naturopath and other health practitioners recommended the following “protocol”. Following this could bring on an uncomfortable detox condition. I’ve been uncomfortable at times, but my allergies are steadily lightening and my energy is increasing. 1. Protease 180: take six per day on an empty stomach -- 3 upon awakening, and 3 before bed. 2. ProDophilus: 2 with breakfast and 2 with dinner. 3. Cream of Tartar. Available in the spice section of the grocery store, also in bulk at health food stores. Take 1-2 tsp. 4 times a day. 4. NAC (n-acetyl cysteine) with molybdenum and selenium from NOW brand. Available at www.vitaminlife.com, product code 73373900866. Take 2 per day. 5. B-vitamins – twice a day. 6. Digestive 270: 2 at the beginning of each meal. Purchase Protease 180, ProDophilus, and Digestive 270 from the Center for Enzyme Research at 1-888-635-4413. Here’s the theory for how this works. Systemic yeast has a protein coating and hides out in the blood and body cells. Taking Protease 180 on an empty stomach digests the protein coating, and releases the candida so that it can be processed out of the body. Cream of tartar kills off candida. ProDophilus replenishes the good bacteria in the gut to further debilitate the released candida. The molybdenum in the NAC aids the skin during this process. The digestive enzymes taken with each meal help digest food and keep good bacteria in the gut strong. There isn’t a time limit to doing this protocol, so a person may need to do this for years depending on how intense the situation. The protocol is challenging, but my doc assures me that it’s easy for most folks. I hope it is for you. You can start slowly with the protease and work up to 6 a day over several months Through experimentation, I’ve found the following to be really helpful with detoxing:
When you order products at Center for Enzyme Research at 1-888-635-4413, you’ll find Rebecca quite knowledgeable about the products and how they work. Questions you may have: Can I substitute other products? I don’t know. I tried other brands of acidophilus without comparable results. At least when you start, use the products as recommended. The products are moderately priced. You’ll use up the cream of tartar fast, so you may want to purchase in bulk. The best price I’ve found is a dollar an ounce. What do I do if I have questions? Email me or talk with health professional or Rebecca. How long does it take before I see results? It took me about 2 months. And I still have a ways to go. If you’ve had candida a long time, you may need to use the protocol a long time. At this point I don’t care how long because the results are fabulous and getting better. Cream of tartar is disgusting. Yes it is. Here’s how to take it. Put 1 tsp. in a small amount of warm water and chuck it all at once as if you were doing shooters. (I’ve seen this in movies.) Then follow with a glass of water. Cream of tartar is a residue from wine making. Contains no alcohol. Wishing you all the best with this.
